For many years Professor Francesco PALLESCHI worked on De Quadripartito Exercitio Cellae with a view to producing a critical edition. He did much preparatory work on the manuscripts, and produced a considerable number of sensitive and illuminating articles in Analecta and elsewhere, based on a deep knowledge of, and sympathy with, the printed texts of Adam and of other relevant writers. Regretfully, due to ill-health he found himself unable to provide the critical edition to which we had looked forward, so James Hogg invited John Clark to collaborate on the project.
